  1. Thanks for your interest in MacDOS.
  2.  
  3. MacDOS provides a Command Line Interface for for the Mac. Its main
  4. purpose is to let you manipulate large numbers of files and folders
  5. through scripts and wildcarding, but it can do much more. Here are
  6. some of thelatest features:
  7.  
  8. *  Typed and pasted text is automatically appended to the command line.
  9. *  Quoted file and folder names are selectable with a single double-click.
  10. *  A new character set distinguishes between characters that are identical
  11.    in the Monaco font.
  12. *  Font size within the console window is selectable.
  13. *  File and folder names are automatically completed when you press the
  14.    TAB character.
  15. *  You can quit the Finder by typing "exit finder".
  16. *  The new command MEM lists information on the running processes.
  17. *  You can now re-boot your Mac with RESTART and SHUTDOWN.
  18. *  MacDOS can launch compiled and text AppleScripts.
  19. *  You can define global variables accessible within the command line
  20.    and in scripts.
  21. *  The command SERIAL lets you receive commands from and send output to
  22.    the serial ports.
  23. *  MacDOS is fully AppleScriptable.
  24. *  MacDOS can be extended with pipable filter applications. You will
  25.    find in this package both a shell C code and examples, so that you can
  26.    develop your own extensions.
  27. *  An abbreviation mechanism lets you now insert into the command line
  28.    long strings by just pressing few keys.
  29.  
  30. The name "MacDOS" is justified by the fact that most of the commands
  31. are modelled on DOS. Please, do not ask me to make a MacUnix, because
  32. my next product will be something totally different.

  34. This version 3.0 is the first offered as shareware. This is very good
  35. news for you, because you are getting the functionality of a commercial
  36. product at a shareware price.

  42.    containing the MacDOS application and lots of goodies.
  43.  
  44. manual
  45.    containing several MS-Word files adding up to well above 100
  46.    pages of information. The first few sections of the manual will
  47.    give you a good introduction to the program.

  49. reviews
  50.    containing what some magazines had to say about this or older
  51.    releases of MacDOS.

  76. MacDOS costs 50 Swiss Francs. After trying it out for a couple of
  77. weeks you should either remove it from your system or pay for it.
  78. You can send me the payment as follows:
  79.  
  80. *  Cash (only banknotes, NO COINS) wrapped in a sheet of a paper
  81.    (note that in some countries this might be illegal). To save you
  82.    the trip to the bank (and the excuse for not paying me!), I will
  83.    accept from some countries payments in their local currency: all
  84.    countries of the European Union, Australia, Canada, Japan, USA.
  85.    Just convert 50 Swiss Francs (or 40 US Dollars, if you are more
  86.    familiar with them) to your currency and round it up to the
  87.    nearest amount payable with paper money.
  88.  
  89.    From any other country, pick your currency or even look at the
  90.    drawer were you keep your travelling stuff and send me a mix
  91.    of currencies (ONCE MORE, NO COINS). For example, USD 30 are
  92.    75% of the price. You can make up the rest with CAD 15.

  94. *  A cheque issued in CHF on a Swiss account. Make it payable to
  95.    Giulio Zambon. Add the sentence "Nur zur Verrechnung" (which
  96.    means "not negotiable").

  98. *  A Eurocheque in Swiss Francs. Write the number of your EC-card
  99.    on the back of the cheque. Make it payable to Giulio Zambon.
  100.    Cross it by drawing two lines across one of the top corners.

  102. *  An international money order in Swiss Francs. Make it payable
  103.    to Giulio Zambon and "not negotiable".
